We can not let the wingnuts get away with their garbage! We let them say whatever smear about how the "Islamaists" will have fair game under a President Obama. It's their scare tacticts fantasy. There's enough of this crap going around that it seems rather well planned to me.
Real men know that such multilateralism is excessively dangerous and will cause all of us to be blown to bits.
HEWITT: By the way, I -- I'm still trying to find two tickets to the Ohio State-USC game. And none of the USC people will give up their tickets to me. I'd pay fair price. They -- they know Ohio State's gonna slaughter the Trojans. They know that they're gonna slaughter the Trojans, and therefore they do not want me there at the bloodbath, since it's probably the last football game we'll ever get to see before the United States gets blown up by the Islamists under Obama.
George Bush's pep talk, inspiring, no? This came in the days following the killing and burning of contractors that lead to some of the nastiest fighting of the war in Fallujah.
Another week, another former Administration tell-all, this time from the former commander in Iraq, General Ricardo Sanchez.
"Kick ass!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can't send that message. It's an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."
Not being a huge fan of his show but keen on this man's rapier wit, I was happy when my wife's uncle sent me his column from Salon.com
May 21, 2008 | The Current Occupant tossed Nazis into a speech last week, something he rarely does since it only reminds people of Dick Cheney. He likened those who would negotiate with terrorists to those who tried to appease the Nazis, an awkward comparison, since Nazis were self-defined and wore the swastika proudly, and terrorists are anybody we nominate to be terrorists, who may include terrorists, people who know terrorists, people named Terry, or people with wrists.
MoDowd has a column today where she says that it's up to Obama to get tough on Hillary in order to win. She got tough on him in Ohio and appealed to older women, the ones who hold the house together while evidently men lose it. I had a conversation with one of these women that left me scratching my head and wondering, what is tough?
Washington, DC (Goiters) The Democrats lead by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi made offical today their formal apology for existing.
"We offer a wholehearted apology, a mea culpa if you will for basically stealing the oxygen that could be going to the Republicans," Pelosi said, making herself as small as possible while she spoke.
"To add to what my unnecessary colleague said, I'd like to say, I'm truly sorry, truly utterly beside myself with sorrow at having to take up valuable space, especially in these post-9/11 times. I would like to just disappear, drop off the face of the earth if I could," Senate Majority "Leader" Harry Reid said.
So, since when is the President of the United States working at a "need to know basis"? Is he as out of the loop as his father was supposed to be?
Why are the president's men (and women) keeping this man in the dark? Or is Cheney to be blamed once again?
ABC News' Martha Raddatz Reports: In an exclusive interview with ABC News President Bush said Tuesday he did not know about the destruction of CIA videotapes of detainee interrogations.
The President said he was told just a few days ago.
Ordered not to destroy the tapes, the CIA still went ahead with operation white-wash. Will heads roll?? I can't blame anyone for being cynical that once again, nothing will happen to these guys.
While Thailand, China and Chevron enrich themselves, the Burmese people are getting screwed. The Junta has forced them to attend government functions where citizens are compelled to support the government.
Htay Kywe, a prominent student activist from an uprising in 1988, was detained overnight with three other people in one of the many raids still being conducted by police more than two weeks after soldiers were sent in to crush demonstrations.
The 39-year-old, a leading light in the so-called "88 Generation Students Group," had managed to remain at large since 13 of his comrades were arrested in a series of midnight swoops on August 21.
You've never heard of Robert Lichfield or Alan Fabian because the media chose to cover Norman Hsu 1,252 times. One thousand two-hundred and fifty-two times for a man who wasn't charged with a crime was charged with a crime in 1992.
"I honk for peace" sounds as mild as one can get, right? It wouldn't pass muster on this website. Milquetoast and bland, even. However this gentle statement supporting peace got schoolteacher Deborah Mayer fired.
When one of Deborah Mayer's elementary school students asked her on the eve of the Iraq war whether she would ever take part in a peace march, the veteran teacher recalls answering, "I honk for peace."
Sure, it happened in Indiana. Must be those Red Staters, right? It could happen to you and me. Since, it turns out, the opinion that public schoolteachers do not have the freedom to speak as we wish has been written by the Federal courts.
Six years in Afghanistan and our military still has no idea how to approach Afghans. Why do we insist on kicking in doors where surely females are living? Rather than consulting with local leaders in Herat province we came in and evidently kicked in doors and asked questions later. When the locals objected to this cultural violation by waving and shooting their Kalashnikovs, our military called in air strikes.
Plagiarism: it's such an ugly word, isn't it? But Katie Couric has crossed the rubicon of plagiarism with her commentary of 4, April. A producer has since been fired after the commentary which started with Katie telling a first person story. A lovely heartwarming tale of the old days when Katie had a library card. Can you picture lil' Katie with pig tails? Riding her pink bike to the library, card firmly her hand? Sad, to think that it's not true.
In case you missed it: In an April 4 video commentary posted on the Web, Couric mused about how kids are no longer as interested in local libraries as they once were. She even reminisced about getting her first library card as a youngster. But, as was soon discovered, much of the rest of the copy was lifted almost verbatim from a recent column by the Wall Street Journal's Jeffrey Zaslow.
The cities of Oxnard and Malibu California banded together for the last few months (years) to stop the planned Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal, the Cabrillo Station. Along with celebs (Malibu...) like Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry and Tanya, my wife! they all came out to say NO to a giant air/water polluter, a terrorist target extraordinaire right off the coast, with millions of citizens at risk. And guess what? They won!
Hundreds of committed citizens turned out tonight (Monday) to demonstrate and be a presence at the California Lands Commission meeting on whether to grant Aussie company BHP the LNG lease.
Imagine if you will an American aircraft, let's say it's a United flight from Los Angeles to Mexico City, is blown up in mid-air. It's an unspeakably horrible event that kills 73 people. The World watches in horror. George Bush and Dick Cheney condemn the tragedy in uncertain terms. The NTSB and FBI find that terrorism is the cause and there were explosives in the cargo hold. The administration vows to get the perpetrators "dead or alive" and will not sleep until it is done.
Well, this all happened in 1976
When is a terroirist not a terrorist? When he blows up Cuban jets, that's when. Luis Posada Carriles, an anti-Castro militant, has been freed by the "justice" department. He will be allowed to live with his family in Miami.
