[UPDATED with more Links] Larisa Alexandrovna: All The President's Nazis....

Thu May 15, 2008 at 10:31:30 PM PDT

I'm sure that many of you are aware of the brilliant investigative journalism of Larisa Alexandrovna, (bio) the  Managing Investigative News Editor of The Raw Story.  She has covered an extensive amount of "below-the-radar" crimes of the Bush Administration, the persecution of Don Siegelman, and the build-up of war against Iran, among many other subjects. A list of her major articles and stories is here.

Tonight she reacted with understandable outrage over the speech George Bush gave to the Knesset today in Israel, and she exposed Bush's Nazi connections.

Are You a Veteran? Or a Military Brat? w/poll

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 04:06:54 AM PDT

I think this would be an interesting thing to know, so here's the question:

How many Kossacks have served in the military, and how many of us have grown up as dependents in the military, or married into the military?

All military families sacrifice when a family member enters the military, especially those that have to live on base and move constantly, and have to deal with their loved ones either going off to war or on TDY.  I consider all of this "service" to the country, including the children who have to deal with a disruptive childhood because of their parent's service.

McCain = The Surge - He's Responsible

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 02:36:59 AM PDT

For those of you who have Hillary (or Obama) friends, relatives or acquaintances that have decided that they will vote for McCain if Obama (or Hillary) wins the nomination, you might want to share this with them, especially if they are against the war.

I'm furious at Hillary

Mon Mar 10, 2008 at 12:05:27 AM PDT

A lot of you don't know me, I haven't written many Diaries.  I know a lot of you though as I read your posts... Hi!

I'm at the end of my rope.  Hillary is making me insane.  See why over the bump...

We are approaching martial law "...- it’s time for America to wake up."

Sun Jul 29, 2007 at 11:39:02 PM PDT

Deborah and  Mark Kuhn, of Asheville, NC are being faced with charges of an assault on an officer and "desecrating a flag" - because they hung it UPSIDE DOWN as a sign of distress. They had at LEAST their 1st, 4th and 5th Amendment Rights violated, if not more.

This is unbelievable...

What I Want to Ask the Candidates at Yearly Kos

Fri Jul 20, 2007 at 02:35:37 AM PDT

I'll be attending Yearly Kos this year, and there are all sorts of things I would like to ask our candidates, but after being given the opportunity to propose a question to them for the debate, this is what I ultimately came up with...  Join me after the bump.

Are we looking at a Potential Stand-off in Washington?

Thu Jul 12, 2007 at 12:46:40 AM PDT

As I'm sure most people are aware, Harriet Miers' lawyer, George Manning,  issued a letter to the Judiciary Committee informing them that she would not be there today because of "Executive Privilege".

Join me after the jump (don't bump your head!)

Sports Illustrated Goes Green: Send them some love

Tue Mar 13, 2007 at 01:26:39 AM PDT

I was just listening to an interview on Ecotalk with Betsy Rosenberg, and she was interviewing David Epstein, a journalist with Sports Illutrated who co-wrote a  story with Alexander Wolfe about global climate change and is featured on the cover of the current issue of Sports Illustrated. The article shows  Florida Marlins' Pitcher Dontrelle Willis standing in water up to his thighs, and the cover says "As The Planet Changes, So Do the Games We Play: Time to Pay Attention".  The name of the article is Going, Going Green. Thanks to A Siegel for finding the article!

We Just Signed up for Yearly Kos w/Poll!

Fri Jan 12, 2007 at 07:54:00 PM PDT

Hurray!  We worked out the financial details and are now registered, and waiting for the registration confirmation from Yearly Kos. My husband and I are now going to try and work out the cheapest airfare with frequent flier miles, but we registered and made reservations!

So I would like to have a rather informal discussion about what to expect since this will be our first Yearly Kos.  I would have done this on the Yearly Kos site, but I think more people are likely to respond here.

Discuss after the flip?

Rumsfeld to face Torture trial - w/poll

Mon Dec 04, 2006 at 11:10:45 PM PDT

Hip! Hip! Hurray!

The birds are coming home to roost!

The ACLU has successfully brought a lawsuit against Donald Rumsfeld for his part in the systematic torture against hapless prisoners in this interminable "war on terror". It will now be held in federal court.

Gods, I've needed this!  You've needed this!  America has needed this!

Oaxaca On Fire

Mon Nov 27, 2006 at 10:32:05 PM PDT

I'm really surprised no one has diaried about this yet, but a tag search reveals the last diary to be from Nov. 17th.  Our Mexican provincial neighbour to the south is literally on fire with protest.  It's almost a mini-Bhagdad.

This unrest is getting ridiculous and it's all Bush's fault! (ChoicePoint  helped to fix the elections!).  These people (the Mexican government) not only hate democracy because it spoils their plans, they do everything to destroy it.

The Pentagon Papers of E-Voting released in full. State of MD's 'SAIC" Report

Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 01:25:03 PM PDT

Brad has asked me to crosspost this report to dailykos.  This was on brad blog last night but I couldn't make a diary because of the rules on one diary per 24 hour period on DKOS.  This is a vitally important document.

BRAD BLOG EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENTS: 'THE PENTAGON PAPERS OF E-VOTING' -- THE LONG-SOUGHT 2003 STATE OF MARYLAND'S 'SAIC REPORT' ON DIEBOLD SECURITY VULNERABILITIES -- NOW RELEASED IN FULL!

Previously Unreleased 200-Page Report Said to Document Some 180 Security Flaws and Recommendations Made to Diebold and the State

Question! Should I photocopy my ballot? and GOTV

Sat Nov 04, 2006 at 10:53:13 PM PDT

Like many of us, I voted early on an absentee ballot, because I distrusted the "machine" I might have to vote on, and also to make a statement.  It seems to me this is without little validity if I don't photocopy my vote.

I have the stub, and on Nov. 7th I'm gonna march this ballot over to the polling place because I didn't want this to get lost in the MAIL either or get disqualified somehow...

UPDATE: Keith Olbermann's special commentary made me cry tonight

Wed Oct 18, 2006 at 06:14:52 PM PDT

How about you?

His brilliant commentary on the death of Habeas Corpus strikes deep within me, my father is a judge who served 35+ years with the USAF JAG, and he was appalled by the policy of torture which went against the very policies he wrote about in terms of treating prisoners, that the UCMJ later adopted. (his recommendations, along with others)

[UPDATED] Andrew M. Sullivan says we have a $43 Trillion Debt?

Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 11:19:11 PM PDT

Today, Andrew M. Sullivan said something when being interviewed by Nora O'Donnell (not my favorite person in terms of accuracy of reporting) that just made my brain do sommersaults.  He said in an interview with her:

"One thing I will also point out, the conservative(s) have always favored fiscal responsibility. Bush inherited a debt of $20 trillion. In five years, he's increased it to $43 trillion."
